Class description: This class is perfect for potters who have completed our level 1 class and are looking for the next step.
Maybe your bowls are still a bit wobbly, but you're familiar with how to work in a studio and can wedge/ throw with a little more confidence than a total beginner.
In this class, you'll get a refresher in how to throw - this time with tips and shortcuts for more consistency in your shapes. We'll also dive deeper into trimming styles, making and attaching handles, lidded vessels and more.
After completing this class, potters will feel confident working independently. Students can also expect to bring home 8 - 10 finished pieces that are sure to make your friends exlaim, "you MADE THAT!?"
Instructor Description:
Whitney is our studio owner, and also a self-taught potter. Part artist and part mad scientist, one of Whitney's catch phrases in class is, "run the experiment and find out".
In Whitney's classes, students learn primarily through failure - so accidental messes are encouraged over accidental masterpieces. She keeps us laughing throughout class and has a style that's approachable and never judgmental or intimidating.
While learning wheel skills is a byproduct of the class, Whitney's primary goal is for her students to build confidence in their own creative abilities.
Who can participate: While we're big kids at heart, Half Moon isn't quite set up for kids' classes quite yet. We're hoping to have some kid-friendly offerings later this year. For safety reasons, our classes are currently open to artists age 15 and older.
Registration tips: Our studio has 6 wheels, so there are only 6 spots total available in classes. The shopping cart will automatically update and will not allow you to purchase more spots than we have available. Spots go quickly, so get to clicking!
Level 2 Wheel - Mondays w/ Whitney
Your spot in class is a space we block off just for you! Our small class sizes allow for more one-on-one instruction, but that also means cancellations make a big impact. In our series classes, we allow cancellations until a week before class. Any cancellations made 6 - 3 days before the first class will only qualify for a 50% refund, unless we're able to re-book your spot. Cancellations made later than 2 days before class will unfortunately be ineligible for a refund.
