Instructor Spotlight: Meet Katie!
Hi I'm Katie!
I find joy in connecting with others, making pots, getting my hands dirty, riding motorcycle, and baking bread. Being MN born and raised and recently transplanted from the twin cities to Eau Claire, it excites me to be in a new place surrounded by a new to me community.
Connecting with others through creativity is important and vital to the sweetness of life. Teaching is a way that I tap into that nectar, it lights me up and is one of my deepest passions. I've been working with clay for 10+ years and beyond that began squeezing earth at a young age. It's a material that helps me make sense of being here and is one of the greatest loves I've ever known. While I do enjoy throwing pots on the wheel, I mainly create hand built work that reflects my fascination with enhancing everyday moments by slowing down, pausing, and appreciating beauty.

I received my BFA in ceramics from UW-River Falls along with my teaching degree in art education K-12. My career in clay has been a journey that continues to open doors and provide rich community wherever it takes me whether it's here in the Midwest or across the country. Because of this my teaching style is inclusive, welcoming, and warm. I value sharing with others what has been shared with me. I've taught all ages in a variety of settings from little ones to elderly, people with disabilities and blindness to people who have never touched clay and those who are returning after a high school clay class they took 20 years prior.
All are welcome, all are capable! It's important to have fun and enjoy the process. I make sure you're comfortable and taken care of while you explore the many possibilities of working with clay. I guide and help you build on skills as you're developing your own understanding of the material while letting your own creativity shine. Take a class with me, let's have some fun!
